The Great Divide: Footwear in the Age of Enlightenment Teaser

We are excited to announce The Great Divide: Footwear in the Age of Enlightenment is now open! The Great Divide explores several timely issues from gender and race to imperialism and colonization. Featuring extraordinary 18th century artefacts from the permanent collection, as well as the Gardiner Museum, the exhibition highlights complex stories about privilege, oppression, danger, desire, revolution, resistance and more. And while these longstanding issues may seem only relevant in the past, events currently happening around the world have only shown us that they are as important today as they were 300 years ago.
